Who we are

CDA for Herts has a team of staff who work throughout the County to enable and develop sustainable communities to contact one of our staff click here. We do this in the following ways:

Local support

We work with partners in county, borough and parish councils, as well as Herts Community Assembly, HertSet Network, Village Halls and other specialist independent groups on aspects such as transport, travel, accessibility and funding. The issues we deal with affect both young and older generations, in all areas of our communities.

We work with local communities/community groups in the following ways:

• Parish Plans/community led planning forming an action plan for each community.
• funding support,
• training on community development
• help with other initiatives.
• advice on village halls,
• housing needs surveys,
• affordable housing

We have led the Rural Issues Group (RIG) for several years and are in discussion about Hertfordshire’s Rural Strategy with partners, for instance parish councils, Farmers’ Union, NHS Hertfordshire, CPRE,  We keep rural issues on the agenda by participating in local strategic partnerships.

Regional involvement
We work with regional bodies to deliver their priorities in Hertfordshire. We are an active member of Rural Action East, which represents the six Rural Community Councils (RCCs) in the East of England, COVER, the community and voluntary sector forum for the East of England, and MENTER (East of England Black and Ethnic Minority Network).

National voice
We work with Defra (Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs)  to advance Government aims and plans.
CDA for Herts is a member of ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England), which lobbies central government and other national bodies on behalf of all thirty seven RCCs and is actively engaged with government departments on a wide range of issues.
