Breaking down the barriers

SCooTS is a very successful  scooter project helping young people gain access to employment, training and education opportunities.

Transport difficulties?

  • Are you struggling to get to college, training or work because of transport difficulties?
  • Live in an area with limited public transport?
  • Found a placement, but can’t get there?
  • Often late for your course or work?
  • Need a reliable and independent means of transport?

If you are eligible and have a provisional driving licence, for a nominal monthly contribution, SCooTS can provide:-

  • Payment for your Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)
  • supporting rural rides course from an accredited provider
  • A 50cc scooter on loan for up to 9 months, with road tax
  • Comprehensive insurance cover and breakdown cover
  • Full servicing and maintenance
  • Safety equipment to include helmet, jacket, trousers and gloves
  • Ongoing support from the SCooTS coordinator

Currently we are operating with 28 petrol scooters with 28 clients, the project also has two eco friendly electric scooters and we are investigating electric charging stations at points of interest in Hertfordshire.
